30 years down...

Yesterday was my 30th and it wasn't soooo bad. The day before I was really thinking I would have a hard time, but I didn't! First of all I want to say thanks thanks thanks for all the money, presents, cards, emails, calls and postings on facebook. I feel very loved! My day was pretty eventful. However, my b-day seemed more about my kids than me, but thats ok, it was all fun! Cade had a fun birthday party to go to and then we went to Medieval times dinner and tournament in downtown Dallas. The boys absolutely loved it. The food was ok. Everything was HUGE!! We ate huge turkey legs and potatoes. The lady in front of me had a HUGE margarita (that I drooled over the whole 2 hrs.) All in all it was a good time. When we got home we had cake. E got me a Barbie cake...not sure what the significance of Barbie was. I'm gonna go with, "I think you're as hot as Barbie" vs. "I miss your more Barbie-like figure, right now". Here are some pictures of our day. For our birthdays E and I got a treadmill...you can see in some of the pics why!!!

I must say I feel very blessed to have such a great life at 30 years old. I have a wonderful family (immediate and extended), who I love very much, and a baby girl on the way!! I also have lots of wonderful friends!! Thanks again for making my day so special!

Baby News

We are now at 36 weeks!! Eric and I went yesterday for an ultasound and everything looks to be right on schedule. She is approximately 6 lbs 5 ozs and measuring a little over 36 weeks. I don't think she's in any hurry to get out of there b/c I'm barely dilated to a 1! My Dr did say she would induce closer to my due date, which would be a relief to not go past due and also for scheduling purposes (with the boys). We got to see pictures and it was really cool. Eric and I had never seen pictures of a later ultrasound. She was moving a lot, putting her arms up and down, sticking her tongue out...it was really neat to see! I asked the technician if she could tell if she had hair and she said, she does, not sure how much, but this is a small indication she may look like me!! My blonde boys had "barely there" hair and it all fell out soon after birth. She did however mention that she has "very full cheeks", which is a Fortner trait. Maybe she'll be a good mix! I'm attaching a 3D picture and you can see the front of her face. It looks like she has Cade's nose and very pouty lips (not sure where those came from)...it's a little hard to tell, but when I saw it, my first thought was she looks like Cade.

Cade's 1st family photo

This morning when we were getting ready for school, Cade drew his 1st family picture! It is too cute! He drew Lila Grace 1st, which is a shock b/c last night when I put him to bed I was telling him when his baby sister comes I will not be able to lay with him anymore b/c I will need to be putting her to bed. He was not happy about this and told me when she comes out he is going to be mean to her! Anyways I guess he got over it. Jack is by far the biggest person in the picture. I'm sure it's b/c he likes Jack the best out of any of us! When I asked him why Jack had such a big head he said b/c Jack is a bighead! Whatever that means??, but when he answered he said it very matter of fact, like I should know this!

Drawing people figures for the 1st time is such a developmental milestone. I remember Jack doing it for the 1st time and calling my Mom b/c I was so excited. I think it's a precursor for writing thier name...not sure on that! It's funny too, b/c all 1st people look the same...One big head with 2 arms and 2 legs!

I scanned this in, so I'm not sure it will turn out so well. Hopefully you can kind of tell what it is...

35 week update

I'm now 35 weeks (YEAH!!!) and I thought I would start the countdown, since the baby could come even as early as 37 weeks...a couple more weeks, maybe...I can't believe it!!! We are so excited to meet Lila Grace!

So, anyways back to my update. I went to the doctor yesterday and everything looks great. No high blood pressure, no protien and very little swelling. So far, so good! She was a little concerned about my weight gain and scheduled an ultrasound for next week so we can see how much the baby weighs. I keep telling her (she's a new dr. for me) that I always gain this much and have had 2 average size babies (Jack was 7 lbs and Cade was 8lbs). I'm sure everything is fine.

Yes, that's me in the picture. I know I know, I'm huge. As my Dad would say, I'm big enough to butcher! Besides from not looking so attractive, I feel really good. Usually at this point both my ankles are as big as my head and they don't go down over night! I attribute feeling good to not having to work and relaxing way more than I ever did with my other 2. The only problem is not being able to sleep. Every hour I alternate between peeing, drinking water or taking a tums...Fun Fun!!

The boys are really getting excited, especially Jack. I told him the other day that we just have 5 more weeks and he woke up the next morning and told Eric, "4 more days until the baby comes, Dad!" Cade just keeps telling me how BIG my belly is and looking at me like, is that normal?? Jack's going to love his new sis and Cade's going to hate not being the baby anymore!

The Boys

So yesterday I took a cute picture of the boys in the bath and it really got me thinking that in a few short weeks it won't be just "the boys" anymore. When I went thru my pictures I found a lot of really cute pictures of just the two of them and thought I would share....
